Valdosta ZIP Directory Coverage
Seven verified codes have a clear Valdosta tie in official postal, city, or facility material. Some cover broad delivery areas, one is chiefly a mailing and post-office-box signal, and two relate to major institutions. Those distinctions matter when a ZIP code directory is used for resident research.
| ZIP | Areas covered | Post office or evidence | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 31601 | Downtown, south and west, county fringe | Valdosta Post Office | Crosses city line |
| 31602 | North-central and northwest, county fringe | Northside facility | Contract unit also available |
| 31603 | Mailing and PO boxes | County mail uses it | Not a residential ZCTA |
| 31605 | North and northeast toward Bemiss and Moody | City documents | No station verified |
| 31606 | South, east and rural fringe | USPS routing | Not wholly in city |
| 31698 | Valdosta State University association | USPS bulletin | Confirm exact scope |
| 31699 | Moody AFB association | USPS bulletin | Confirm exact scope |
The often-listed 31604 was not confirmed in the authoritative pages reviewed. Use an exact USPS address lookup rather than claiming residential coverage.
Valdosta ZIP Post Offices
The USPS 31601 facility page identifies the Valdosta Post Office at 311 N. Patterson Street, Suite C, phone 229-259-9994. It lists weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday hours of 10 a.m. to noon.

The image confirms the facility, not the borders of its delivery area or a list of residents.
The Northside Valdosta listing places the 31602 facility at 3698 Inner Perimeter Road, phone 229-241-7209, with passport service. It lists weekday hours through 6 p.m. and Saturday service through 3 p.m.

This second capture distinguishes the northside postal hub from the wider 31602 residential area.
Search Valdosta Residents by ZIP
No verified Lowndes public portal offers a dependable button for every resident in one ZIP code. qPublic accepts address, owner, parcel, or legal terms. A property result may show a code, but that does not prove a ZIP-wide filter exists. My Voter Page is an identity-gated self-lookup.
- Verify the full delivery address through USPS.
- Search the situs in Lowndes qPublic.
- Copy the normalized address and parcel number.
- Check the parcel viewer when municipal layers are available.
- Move to the Valdosta street directory once the road is known.
These steps turn the ZIP code directory into a route toward records without pretending it is a household roll.
Valdosta ZIP Search Fields
The property portal offers useful fields but no verified ZIP selector. That gap is important and should remain visible.
| Field | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Owner Name | Indexed owner | Not all occupants |
| Location Address | Physical parcel | One address or possible range |
| Parcel Number | Known county parcel | Requires identifier |
| Legal Information | Lot, block, subdivision | Property terms only |
| ZIP filter | Not verified | Do not promise enumeration |
The Georgia My Voter Page confirms one person's own registration and polling data. It cannot browse all voters in a Valdosta ZIP code.
Valdosta Institutional ZIP Codes
Codes 31698 and 31699 are associated with Valdosta State University and Moody Air Force Base. They show why postal codes should not be read as ordinary neighborhoods. A campus or facility code may identify mail routing while saying little about where one person owns property or resides.
USPS labeling material routes both through 31603, but the reviewed sources did not establish their exact unique-code scope. Confirm the complete address. In a city shaped by a university and air base, affiliation and delivery are not proof of a home.
Note: An institutional code is a useful Valdosta clue, but it cannot replace a parcel, street address, or named resident record.
Valdosta ZIPs Versus ZCTAs
The Census Bureau creates ZIP Code Tabulation Areas, called ZCTAs, for statistics. USPS ZIP codes route mail. They serve different purposes, so a ZCTA population should not be reported as an exact count of postal customers or city residents.
The Census ZIP and ZCTA guidance explains the distinction and five-digit searches.

The capture reinforces the limit: Census data compares statistical areas, while USPS verifies an exact mailing ZIP.
Valdosta Neighborhood and ZIP Labels
Planning names such as Brookhaven, Greer Park, Hightower, Little Miami, North Patterson, Pinevale, Southside, Tom Town, Ulmer Avenue, West Side, and Kill Me Quick help search city plans and newspapers. They do not draw postal boundaries.
One city page says there are 16 revitalization neighborhoods but displays 15 named plan links. West Street also appears as an active Neighborhood Action Association outside those titles. This local quirk is a warning against forcing civic and postal geography into a one-to-one match. Resolve the parcel first, then add a neighborhood term as context.
Neighborhood words are still valuable secondary terms. A planning agenda may identify a historic district, tax parcel, owner, project, and exact address even when it never states the postal area. Newspaper archives may favor the locally used neighborhood name. Search both forms, but let the parcel and official delivery address control the final match. North Patterson, Brookwood North, Southside, East End, Fairview, and the Commercial district can also supply useful development-era context without defining a ZIP boundary.
Valdosta ZIP Source Bias
Property records do not equal a resident list. Valdosta had 22,532 households in the 2020 to 2024 Census estimate period, but only 41.7 percent of occupied units were owner occupied. A ZIP code directory built solely from assessor owners would therefore miss many renters, adult relatives, students, and other occupants. It would also include some owners whose tax mail goes to another place.
Valdosta State University, Moody Air Force Base, the regional medical center, and other large institutions create frequent address changes and strong affiliation records. The Census estimate says 84 percent of residents were in the same house as one year earlier, yet monthly assessor updates can still miss a move or recent transfer. A named campus publication, directory, court index, or voter self-lookup may support one fact without establishing a whole household.
Use each official source for the narrow fact it records. The assessor connects a named owner to a parcel. USPS confirms delivery. Census ZCTAs support area statistics. None alone produces a complete roll of people who live inside a Valdosta ZIP code.
Valdosta ZIP and City Limits
Codes 31605 and 31606 spill into unincorporated Lowndes County. A mailing city of Valdosta therefore does not prove City of Valdosta jurisdiction. That affects permits, planning, code, police, and municipal files.
Boundary check. Confirm the parcel and municipal line before sending a request because postal city names describe delivery, not legal jurisdiction.
If map layers are unavailable, give the exact address and parcel to the city or county office and ask it to confirm the custodian.
- ZIP+4
- Four extra digits that narrow mail delivery.
- PO-box ZIP
- A code chiefly used for post-office boxes or central mail.
- Unique ZIP
- A code assigned to a high-volume institution.
- Carrier route
- The path assigned to a postal carrier.
Route Valdosta ZIP Records
Lowndes County keeps assessments, deeds, probate, courts, and voter administration. Valdosta keeps city-created permits, planning matters, police files, and municipal dispositions. Postal geography cannot erase that split.
Use the city open-records route for city files and the County Clerk for county administrative records. Georgia's Open Records Act sets a three-business-day response point when records cannot be produced at once. Keep a request narrow with an exact address, parcel, record type, and date span.
If an address carries 31605 or 31606, ask whether the parcel is incorporated before seeking permits or police material. For 31698 or 31699, verify whether the code reflects institutional routing rather than a personal residence. For 31603, do not treat a post-office-box mailing as a Census residential area. These checks prevent a request from landing with the wrong custodian.
